The Chittoor Urban police on Saturday night arrested a youth, Jagan (20), a native of Kadapa district, on charges of sending messages to Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy and his son, demanding money, blackmailing that he was in possession of vital documents pertaining to their “illegal assets”.

The One-Town Inspector, Vijay Kumar, told The Hindu that Jagan is pursuing his B.Tech at a Hyderabad-based college. During the last couple of weeks, the youth started sending messages to the Minister and his son, demanding money. Based on complaint from the Minister, SP Ghattamaneni Srinivas formed a special team. The team arrested the youth in Hyderabad, after tracing his whereabouts with the help of mobile numbers. He was brought to Chittoor on Saturday evening.
