A young man aged around 20 years was washed away in the sea when he went for a picnic along with his friends near Tupilipalem in Vakadu mandal in Nellore district here on Saturday evening.

Hours later, the body of the ill-fated Balaji was found in the sea waters under a bridge near the beach. He was said to be a resident of Gudur town and his relatives were informed about the incident.

The man’s death became a cause for concern with the incidents of drowning and getting washed away in the beaches occurring now and then. The local people blame it on the lack of awareness among the visiting public and also due to lack of security.

Against this background, the tourists and local visitors were being asked to visit only the popular and well-developed beaches in the district. The district administration has identified five beaches for development of full-fledged amenities.

The Mypadu beach has already been developed with a lot of facilities as part of which security measures have also been taken. Expert swimmers and local fishermen join the rescue efforts whenever incidents of drowning and getting washed away take place.
