The sexual assault against women continues in Nalgonda district as yet another woman approached Haliya Police here on Saturday alleging that an auto driver raped her.

Inspector, Anand Reddy said that the woman, a native of Rangundla village of Anumala mandal, was waiting for an auto at K.Jana Reddy colony to reach Haliya on Nagarjunas agar-Nalgonda road. She boarded the auto of B. Srinivas, native of Kothapalli village of Anumula mandal. The auto driver allegedly misguided the woman, who is a widow, and raped her in bushes. Later, she approached the Haliya Police. A case has been registered.

Arrested

In another case, the Miryalaguda One-town Police on Saturday arrested a 23-year-old person who allegedly raped a minor girl in one town Police station limits on December 31. According to the police, the accused B. Ramesh Yadav is a graduate working in a corporate junior college in Hyderabad and resident of Topucharla village of Vemulapalli mandal in Nalgonda. A case under Nirbhya Act was registered and he was sent to remand.

Teacher fears threat
Meanwhile, a woman teacher of a primary school in the Enemedha tanda, who played a key role in bringing sexual harassment against tribal girls, is fearing a threat to her life. Speaking to The Hindu, she said her school had 82 students of which, 76 were inmates of the hostel run by the Village Reconstruction Organisation, an NGO. The accused was a native of the Thanda while the poor inmates hailed from other villages. “The families of the victims are sympathetic, but none is staying here because the kin of the accused hail from this village,” she said. She was apprehensive of an attack as the relatives of the accused were furious with her. “I am planning to approach the DEO and the Collector seeking a transfer from the school or I will opt for leave,” she said.
