CPI (Marxist) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury said that there is scope for emergence of a political alternative to the Congress-led and BJP-led coalitions after the next general elections.
The new coalition would work for implementation of alternative economic policies for reversing the neo-liberal policies and usher in changes that could ensure economic self reliance. Mr. Yechury was speaking at a seminar on “Makineni Alochanalu – Samakaalinatha” organised as part of the centenary celebrations of legendary communist leader Makineni Basavapunnaiah here on Thursday.
He said the BJP’s economic blueprint was nothing but a replica of the neo-liberal economic policies adopted by the UPA coalition. This could be seen from the way the capitalist forces were rallying behind the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for their “selfish ends.” “The Congress and the BJP have a striking resemblance when it comes to the neo-liberal policies and corruption,” he said.
Tears into BJPContinuing his tirade against the BJP, he said the communal forces were trying to derive electoral mileage by taking advantage of the simmering resentment against the Congress-led coalition. This would in turn make it imperative for the secular forces to join forces in keeping the communal forces at bay.
Recalling the contribution of Basavapunnaiah, he said concrete analysis of the conditions with scientific approach was the need of the hour to fight against capitalist and communal forces for creating an exploitation free society. “This will be the greatest tribute to the doyen of Marxist movement Makineni Basavapunnaiah,” he said.
CPI (M) central committee members T Veerabhadram and V Srinivasa Rao, party’s district secretary P. Sudarshan Rao and others were present.
