‘Women forging ahead in all sectors’

Women are forging ahead in all sectors and they should be proactive and optimistic. Women students should excel as engineers, Chairman of KSRM College of Engineering S. Sankar Reddy said.

Women students should develop a positive outlook towards their education and career prospects, he said while speaking as a chief guest in the sixth annual day celebrations of KLM College of Engineering for Women here. He said women students would successfully balance their professional and personal lives.

Indian Barytes and Chemicals Ltd. Chairman K. Rajamohan Reddy exhorted students to strive to become entrepreneurs rather than going for jobs. Former MLA and correspondent of KLM College K. Sivananda Reddy said the colleges was started in memory of his mother late Smt. Kandula Lakshumma. He advised the students to be optimistic about the future and work for the all round progress of the country.

College chairperson S. Padmavatamma and vice-chairperson K. Rajeswari and Director of Kandula Group of Institutions K.S.N. Reddy spoke. College Principal S. Khaja Peer, who presided, presented the annual report. Vice-chairperson of KSRM College of Engineering K. Madan Mohan Reddy said abundant opportunities were available for women engineers. Secretary of KORM College of Engineering K. Chandra Obula Reddy advised the students to work hard with confidence.

A former student of EEE branch Dedeepya, who secured 181st rank in GATE 2014, and M. Sravani of ECE, who got a GATE score of 432 were felicitated. Cash awards were presented to students J. Ramya, C. Sravanthi, M. Manjula, B. Divya, C. Sravanthi, S.A. Tabassum, Humera Banu, M. Meenakshi and G. Sai Harshitha for academic excellence.

Certificates attested by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan were presented to students, teaching and non-teaching staff for donating blood in the blood donation camp conducted in KLMCEW with the support of Indian Red Cross Society in March 2014. Winners in several competitions were also awarded prizes. Students performed dances and cultural programmes.
