A 35-year-old woman surrendered before the Village Administrative Officer Theegadurthipadu on Sunday after killing her alcoholic husband for spreading canards against her, in Podili Mandal of Prakasam district.
The woman admitted that she poured kerosene on her husband, Chinna Subba Rao(40), and set him ablaze after giving him excess alcohol on April 13, Podili Circle Inspector B. Ravichandra said. Vexed with the torture by her husband, she resorted to the extreme step, police said.
The woman has two grown-up sons, one of them pursuing B. tech in Hyderabad.
She was upset with her husband for spending all his income on liquor and putting the entire responsibility of running the family on her.
The woman decided to eliminate her husband, after he had started concocting stories about her fidelity, the CI added.
