A DCM cadre woman Maoist leader operating on the Andhra Orissa Border (AOB) and in Chhattisgarh area has been arrested by a special police team of the Guntur Rural Police.
SP K. Narayan Naik on Wednesday said that Bhutam Annapoorna, alias Padma alias Aruna, was picked up at Thallayapalem of Thullur mandal.
The woman, who is not well, has been reportedly staying in the house of her relatives for the last five days.
Carried a bounty of Rs. 5 lakh
An accused in many cases in Vinukonda Circle, she carried a reward of Rs.5 lakh on her head.
The police said that a team from Vinukonda picked her up.
“I have not yet decided whether I should join the mainstream or go back to the forest. There is no end to revolution and our movement is a reflection of people’s desire,” she told reporters at a press conference.
Annapoorna is a native of Julakallu of Piduguralla mandal in Guntur district. Inspired by the revolutionary songs of Diwakar, Uppu Ramesh, and Satyam, she joined the Chandravanka dalam in the year 1994.
‘Accused in many cases’
She later married dalam commander Nune Narasimha Reddy and grew up in the ranks to become part of the DCM cadre. Mr. Narayan Naik said that the Maoist had been accused in many cases, including the sensational assault on the police station at Chilakaluripet. She was also involved in the attack on policemen at Karampudi and Durgi in which SI N. Koteswara Rao was killed.
A vital member of the team that had gunned down people after branding them informers, Annapoorna continued to be active in the district till 2009 before shifting base to the AOB.
Cases under the Arms Act and the APPMS Act have been registered against her.
Additional SP Ramanjaneyulu and DSP, Sattenapalli, Madhusudana Rao, were present.
