Three Town Police took into custody a woman on suspicion that she was trying to steal a baby from the maternity ward of the General Hospital here on Saturday.
According to police, the woman identified as Saradamma from Palem in Mahabubnagar was found loitering in suspicious conditions in the neonatal ward.
On a complaint from a family, the security persons handed over the woman to police.
However, the woman said she had come to assist the delivery of her daughter. The police were inquiring the antecedents of the woman.
