It was a memorable day for over 100 who were affected by leprosy in the city who got a rare chance to celebrate semi-Christmas at the Welfare of Innocent Neglected Guarding Society (WINGS) in Cloughpet here on Monday.

Pastor Ch. Venkat Rao made them feel at home. Cutting a cake, he put cake pieces into their mouths.

A grand ‘love feast’ was organised on the occasion by WINGS director Ch. Udayajanaki Lakshmi. “We find solace in taking care of them”, she said, adding “Mother Teresa, who took care of the sick and other needy people, is a great inspiration for us.”

Those affected by leprosy were also given blankets to protect themselves from the biting cold. About 100 orphaned children were given new clothes on the occasion. They indulged in merry making during the cultural programmes that followed.

Pastor Ch. Ramakrishna delivered a message of peace, love and goodwill. A candlelight service was organised as part of the celebrations.
