Congress president Rahul Gandhi has advised party leaders from Andhra Pradesh to woo back the dissidents who had joined Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress in 2011, emptying out the Congress ranks.

In his meeting with 25 leaders from the State on Wednesday morning, sources said, he repeatedly enquired about Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSR Congress. “He wanted to know if there is a possibility of bringing back the rebels. He said that we need to emphasise that the YSR (Congress) is just a one-man party while the Congress is the aspiration of the poor,” one of the A.P. leaders who attended the meeting told The Hindu . The Congress has been reduced to a pitiable situation in the State. It does not have a single seat in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly while the YSR Congress has 66 members.
