‘Will take up detainee issues with Kuwait’

Government Whip Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy promised to take up with Kuwaiti authorities the issue of some persons of the State who were imprisoned in that country owing to passport and visa problems.

Speaking a meeting of Telugu people on Dima Masjid premises in Kuwait during his three-day tour, he suggested to Indian Ambassador in Kuwait, Sunil Jain, to discuss the matter with the Kuwait Government and strive for the release of the people by procuring necessary documents from India.

Telugu-speaking people who migrated to Kuwait in search of work were in peaceful co-existence with the locals , he said.

Mr. Reddy assured to visit Kuwait every year and strive for the welfare of the Telugu people working there.

He also released a Telugu book “Charitarthulu” and a calendar brought out by the society.

The society members felicitated Mr. Mallikarjuna Reddy.
