Will not take dip in ghats painted yellow: MLA

August 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 10:07 am IST - GUNTUR:

Miffed at almost all pushkaram ghats in the district being painted in bright yellow, Macherla MLA P. Ramakrishna Reddy created a flutter on Wednesday saying that he would not take a dip at such ghats.

“The TDP government is spending crores of public money to derive political mileage. How can they paint the ghats yellow? They could have painted them white, which is a symbol of purity,” Mr. Reddy said. When the media sought his reaction to Mr. Reddy’s comments, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh quipped that yellow signified brightness and auspiciousness.

“They (opposition parties) have been politicising all issues, including capital construction,” he added.
