Week-long adventure for women begins

The seven-day adventure sports under the aegis of Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) began at Alisagar reservoir, 17 km away from the district headquarters on Monday. Collector Christina Z. Chongthu flagged it off and travelled in a boat along with the sportswomen in the reservoir for a while.

As many as 50 women arrived from 12 districts including Nizamabad to take part in adventure sports such as mountaineering, trekking and rafting being conducted at Alisagar and Badapaha forest area. The NYK made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the sports as well food and accommodation for the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that adventure sports is useful to direct the youth in the right way and also to make new friends. This would instil courage, new experiences and give exposure in the participants, she said and advised them to learn about the history of the district, its culture and lifestyle.

NYK district co-ordinator M. Ramchandra Rao, Project Director, NCLP, Sudhakar Rao, Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Chandrasekhar and NYK zonal officer Jaipal Singh were present at the inaugural.
