The Endowments Department will soon launch an exclusive website to host data relating to the income and expenditure of temples, including their fixed assets and donations given by devotees, Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao has said.

The decision was taken after a spate of complaints were received from different quarters over the reported misuse of assets belonged to various temples in the State, he said. Mr. Rao was in East Godavai district on Saturday to participate in different programmes. He visited the Sree Peetham in the city and interacted with Swami Paripoornananda and later visited the Gopal Baba Ashram in Pithapuram, where he launched the ‘Annadanam’ scheme.

Transparency

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the website would ensure transparency in all the activities of Endowments Department and devotees would be able to know about the spending of their donations.

“We have already been keeping a track on the audit procedure at all the temples and notices are being issued to the executive officers concerned in the event of delay in conducting the audit. Similarly, we are focusing on keeping a good environment at temples by making them clean and green,” he said.

Mr. Rao further said that steps were underway to establish a Health University, besides opening at least one English medium school in each district.
