Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana on Saturday sanctioned 500 borewells for the Machilipatnam municipality. The borewells will be dug up in a week to ensure timely supply of potable water during this summer.
Mr. Narayana inspected the existing water supply mechanism being followed by Pedana and Machilipatnam municipalities and interacted with locals on the water supply.
“Each household will get 20 litres of drinking water from May 1,” said Mr. Narayana. He also inspected summer water storage tanks under the Machilipatnam municipality to study the available surface water for distribution. Responding to a request by the Machilipatnam municipal authorities to construct a new municipal building, the Minister promised to speed up the proposal of releasing Rs. 5 crore for the project.
Mr. Narayana said that steps would be initiated to complete distribution of LED bulbs.
