Water level at Dowleswaram touches 10.90 feet

The flood level in the Godavari is steadily increasing. The water level has reached 10.90 feet at the Sir Arthur Cotton barrage in Dowleswaram on Wednesday evening.

Irrigation authorities are releasing 2.12 lakh cusecs into the sea by lifting all the 175 gates up to 0.4 metres. Water is being released for irrigation from the barrage. About 3,300 cusecs are being released to the eastern delta, 2,000 cusecs to central delta, and 5,500 cusecs to the western delta. The water levels (in metres) at various places are as follows: Kaleswaram — 6.6, Peruru — 9.25, Dummugudem — 8.45, Koonavaram — 8.59, Kunta — 9.47, Koida — 10.73, and Polavaram — 7.66. As the water level reached 26.40 feet in Bhadrachalam, the inflow at the Sir Arthur Cotton barrage may increase in the next couple of days.
