Voters of Devagudi village in Jammalamadugu constituency sported black badges and lined up from 7 a.m. to cast their votes in polling stations No. 80, 81 and 82, in which repolling was held amidst heavy police bandobust on Tuesday.
Repoll was ordered in the three polling stations following assault on Jammalamadugu DSP Appala Naidu and policemen in the village during polling on May 7. Kadapa Superintendent of Police G.V.G. Ashok Kumar camped at Devagudi and monitored bandobust by over 100 police personnel. Sitting YSRC MLA C. Adinarayana Reddy’s son C. Sudhikar Reddy had been arrested in connection with the assault.
Incidentally Telugu Desam Party set up polling agents in Devagudi for the first time in 25 years. Former Minister and TDP candidate for Jammalamadugu Assembly constituency P. Ramasubba Reddy was polling agent in one of the three polling stations. The three polling stations have about 3,000 voters.
