Strongly rebutting the charges levelled and remarks made against him by YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called upon the people of Nandyal on Saturday to vote for development and good governance, and vote against corruption, criminality and violence.
“Use your vote as a weapon to defeat Mr. Jagan, who is speaking at will, uttering lies and turning a blind eye to ongoing development, and YSRCP candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy, who grabbed lands allotted to Dalits by the government,” Mr. Naidu said during his road show at NGO Colony in Nandyal town.
The Chief Minister asserted that Mr. Jagan’s intemperate remarks to “shoot him down in the middle of the road, hang him and strip him” made him angry and sad, but he was bearing them for the sake of the people.
Mr. Naidu said the quid pro quo cases against Mr. Jagan and former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy were incorporated as case study examples in the criminal law. If such leaders gained power, corruption would become the order of the day, he alleged.
Mr. Jagan has no time to visit Amaravati except during the Legislative Assembly session, but stayed put in Nandyal for two weeks and was canvassing door-to-door. Recalling that the TDP did not contest in byelections caused by the death of Sobha Nagi Reddy and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he said Mr. Jagan fielded a candidate deviating from the convention, though the byelection would elect an MLA for a short tenure of 16 months.
