About 10 miscreants robbed women passengers on the Visakhapatnam-bound Visakha Express of gold jewellery near Kaldari in West Godavari district in the early hours of Friday.

According to the Nidadole railway police, the train came to a sudden halt between Kaldari and Satyavada after someone pulled the chain. Even before the railway staff were inspecting the coaches to figure out the commuter who pulled the chain, about 10 miscreants struck in sleeper coaches S6 to S13 and threatened women passengers knives. The train was detained at the spot for about 28 minutes and it was reported that 170 gm of gold jewellery was stolen.

The passengers lodged a complaint with the Nidadole railway police. A case has been registered.
