Villagers resist land survey in Kovvada

May 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 12, 2016 08:21 pm IST - SRIKAKULAM:

Several villagers strongly opposed survey of lands on Monday in Kovvada, Kotapalem and other places when revenue officials approached them to explain the benefits of the atomic power plant and the financial package which would be given as per the New Land Acquisition Act-2013

Special Deputy Collector J. Sitarama Rao, Ranasthalam Tehsildhar Suresh and survey teams tried in vain to convince the villagers. The Government conducted a grama sabha on May 17 in Kovvada and said updating of details of property owners would be possible with the survey. Several Left leaders, CITU representatives D. Govinda Rao, Ch. Ammannaidu, P. Tejeswara Rao and others raised their voice against the revenue teams.
