Vijaywada thermal station to get Meritorious Performance award

Dr. Narla Tata Rao Thermal Power Station (NTTPS) in Vijayawada has been selected for the Meritorious Performance award for the year 2008-09 under Thermal-I category.

The award, instituted by the Ministry of Power will be presented by Union Minister for Power Sushilkumar Shinde on January 29, a release from the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Ltd., said here on Sunday.

The NTTPS station having installed capacity of 1260 MW, has generated 10,341 MU during the year 2008-09 and achieved a plant load factor of 93.7 per cent and a record heat rate of 2321 kcal/kWh and availability of 95.1 per cent during the year 2008-09, it said.

These achievements made Dr. NTTPS eligible for the award, the release added.
