City legislators, Malladi Vishnu and Vellampalli Srinivas, expressed displeasure at the acts of Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari during her visit here to attend a private function on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the two MLAs said Ms. Purandeswari holding talks with a cross-section of people including industrialists, lorry owners and others would send a wrong signal weakening the strong movement against the bifurcation of the State.

The statement she made to the television channels clearly implied that the people would agree with the division of the State if a proper package and roadmap was prepared for the people living in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and West Godavari districts.

This was unfortunate considering that the Congress workers from Vijayawada city and Krishna district had passed a resolution asking the party high command not to divide the State. He said that anyone working for the division of the State would have to face the wrath of the Seemandhra people.

The MLAs also rapped YSR Congress for launching a dharna in front of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s office in the Secretariat. They said Mr. Reddy had been openly supporting the cause of Samaikyandhra from the beginning. It would have been more appropriate if the party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy had staged the fast in front of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s house as the latter clearly said that he was not agitating to keep the State united.
