Y.S. Vijayamma, Honorary President of the YSR Congress has accused the Telugu Desam Party and the Congress of ‘ganging up’ to stifle the future of her son and Kadapa MP, Jaganmohan Reddy, by allegedly implicating him in scams.
Sizeable turnout
She was addressing a public meeting at Palamaner, about100 kms from here on Wednesday, after formally taking into the party fold, Amarnadha Reddy, TDP MLA who was suspended from the party for calling on Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy recently in the Chenchalguda jail and seeking entry into his party after breaking ranks with the TDP with which his family was associated for over three decades.
Though Reddy arranged the public meeting with a sizeable turn-out to get officially baptized as a full-fledged YSR Congress functionary in the presence of Y.S. Vijayamma, the other objective was a show of strength to neutralise the huge negative effect generated in the constituency against him in the wake of sharp barbs thrown by the TDP leaders for ‘ditching’ the party, which gave him his political life.
‘Largesse’
Vijayamma in her diatribe against Chandrababu Naidu listed the scams he was himself was allegedly involved when he was the Chief Minister and cited in this connection the names of Ramoji Rao, Nama Nageswara Rao, Sujana Chowdary, Muralimohan as the ‘beneficiaries’ of Chandrababu’s alleged ‘largesse’.
She asked which court had given a clean chit to Chandrababu Naidu in his court cases and said that he had only ‘managed’ to escape from court cases.
She also sought to explain as to how, in contrast, Jaganmohan Reddy was being allegedly humiliated with a series of cases and hoped he would come out unscathed.
‘Fabulous packages’
Reacting to Chandrababu Naidu’s reported allegation that Jaganmohan Reddy was wooing the TDP MLAs by offering them ‘fabulous packages’, Vijayamma asked him how many crores he had paid to the TDP MLAs when he ‘backstabbed’ NTR and became the Chief Minister.
Amarnadha Reddy attributed his resignation from TDP to the ‘humiliation’ he was subjected to and claimed that he had won as the TDP MLA with the help of the image he and his family members had built in the constituency.
Among other YSRC leaders who were present at the meeting were the other TDP MLA, Praveenkumar Reddy (Tamballapalle), who also resigned recently from the TDP and threw his lot behind Jagan’s YSRC, K. Roja, B. Karunakar Reddy, Tirupati MLA, N. Gnanender Reddy, former Chittoor MP, Reddamma, former ZP Chairperson and Narayanaswamy, District Party convener.
