Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday urged the Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy to allocate five acres of land for construction of a complex to provide facilities to the devotees from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh undertaking pilgrimage to Sabaramala.
Mr. Rao, who called on the Kerala Chief Minister in Thiruvanthapuram on Tuesday morning told The Hindu that over three lakh devotees from the two States travel to Sabarimala in Pathanamthitta district. “These devotees are facing a lot of problems on account of lack of any facilities and food is a major hurdle for them as most of the dishes are made with coconut oil,” he said.
The MP said if the Kerala government came forward to provide land for construction of the complex, it would benefit lakhs of devotees.
The Congress MP said he would meet the Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and urge them to write separate letters to the Kerala government seeking land for construction of the complex.
