Venkatramana laid to rest with State honours

Tirupati MLA M. Venkatramana, who passed away on Monday at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, was laid to rest with State honours on Tuesday.

The mortal remains of Mr. Venkatramana were taken in a huge procession from his residence to Kapila Theertham for the funeral, where his son-in-law Sanjay performed the last rites. The event was marked by police firing in the air as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

Deputy Chief Minister N. China Rajappa, District Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, Chittoor MP N. Sivaprasad, Government whip Meda Mallikarjuna Reddy, MLCs C.Ramachandraiah and Y.Srinivasulu Reddy took part in the funeral.

Among those who paid tributes to Mr. Venkatramana at his residence were former Members of Parliament L. Rajagopal and Chinta Mohan, ex-MLAs B. Karunakar Reddy, Chadalawada Krishnamurthy and S.C.V. Naidu, former Speaker Agarala Eswara Reddi, film producer N.V. Prasad (who was defeated by Mr.Venkatramana in 2004 elections) and TTD Joint Executive Officer Pola Bhaskar.
