People are eager to know at whose behest snooping was done, says M. Venkaiah Naidu.

Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu has stated that he will take up the issue of media reports over spying on the family member and relatives of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as soon as he returns from the foreign visit and request him to order for an inquiry.

“People of the country are eager to know whether there was snooping on the kin of Netaji for 20 years by the then government and if so at whose behest it was done. The issue needs a thorough inquiry so that facts are kept before people”, Mr. Naidu said talking to newspersons here on Saturday.

He, however, stated that he would take up the matter with Home Minister Rajnath Singh first.

The reports of surveillance on Netaji had been sending shockwaves in the country as it was stated that a watch was kept on those who were visiting the Netaji’s kin, whom the kin were meeting, where they were visiting and the communication received and sent by them.

“As the Congress leaders have been demanding, I am the one for placing all the facts before the people so that they could know who were responsible for denigrating such a great leader,” the Union Minister said.

Farming initiatives

Thanking the Prime Minister for announcing the initiatives taken for the poor and farming community, Mr. Naidu said the Centre had been working out more welfare measures to farmers to help them overcome the agrarian crisis. He stated that they would be unveiled in the coming days and the Prime Minister had already instructed banks to reschedule crop loans wherever necessary.

Cabinet nod for Bill

Mr. Naidu said the Union Cabinet had given its nod to the Real Estate Development and Regulation Bill three days back and it would be introduced in the coming session of Parliament.

Encounters

On the encounters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, the Union Minister said the Centre would not interfere since law and order is a State issue. Criticising those raising the issue of human rights following the encounters, Mr. Naidu sought to know why they remained silent when the extremist-elements had attacked the police and killed innocent people. “Don’t the people and police have human rights,” he sought to know.
