Venkaiah promises Centre’s help to State

March 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - NELLORE:

Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has sought to allay fears on the issue of fund-allocation for Andhra Pradesh capital and the overall development of the State.

Regarding special status for AP, about which Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan raised concern, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said there was no mention of special status in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. He, however, avoided dwelling elaborately on this.

During his visit to the Swarna Bharath Trust on the outskirts here on Saturday, Mr. Naidu spoke to mediapersons when he said it was not correct on the part of the allies and friendly parties of the BJP to make open comments on any issue pertaining to the new State.

Without making any reference to the Jana Sena chief, Mr. Naidu said any friendly party having any concern on such important matters should first talk to the Centre instead of going to people.

Stating that Rs. 1,000 crore was given from the Union Urban Development Department to the A.P. capital, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said the funds allocation would be made once the plans and designs for the capital were ready. He said the Centre was committed to the overall development of A.P.

The Union Minister also touched upon the issue of meagre funds allocated for the Polavaram project, saying that the Centre will also deal with this issue and allocate sufficient funds for the project.
