An exhibition on the traditional practices in vogue since ages and the ancient procedures followed in Hindu religion pertaining to certain rituals and ceremonies, and finally, their proper documentation and display in the form of an exhibition by Sri Venkateswara Vedic University came as a pleasant surprise for Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan.

Mr. Narasimhan, who visited the campus on Sunday in his capacity as the varsity's Chancellor, was taken around by Vice-Chancellor K.E. Devanathan and Registrar G.S.R. Krishnamurthy. The expo has a remarkable collection of ancient Yagashalas, which have unique designs dedicated to each of the deities comprising the Hindu pantheon of Gods, besides the tools and apparatus used to perform the Yaga as per the procedures laid down in the various doctrines.

The photo exhibition has an array of images of the various 'Mudras' of the hand used in the rituals.

The Chancellor explained to the varsity authorities the need to unearth the scientifically-proven facts hidden in the scriptures and translate it in the common man's language for the overall benefit of the society.

He suggested making English and computer education mandatory in the Vedic schools run on Gurukul system to make them relevant in the modern world.

At Tiruchanur

Meanwhile, Mr. Narasimhan offered prayers at Tiruchanur Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple on Sunday.

He was accorded a ceremonial reception by Joint Executive Officer (Tirupati) Pola Bhaskar and Deputy Executive Officer (PAT) C. Ramana.

He came to offer prayers in the temple commemorating the holy 'Purattasi' month.
