April 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - GUNTUR:

Vice Chancellor (I/C) of Acharya Nagarjuna University K.R.S Sambasiva Rao has set his eyes on making the university as a Centre of Excellence.

Dr. Rao, who took charge on Monday, has set the ball rolling for tapping innovation, research and development projects in various Central and global agencies.

“I would be asking the departments to identify key thrust areas in research. For instance, I am sending proposals for setting up an Incubation Centre in the department of Biotechnology and another proposal for setting up Marine Biotechnology Park at Machilipatnam is also in the offing. I am keen on inter departmental coordination in planning these projects,” Dr. Rao said on Tuesday.

ANU is also keen to start a skill development centre and an Entrepreneurship Development Centre to provide skill development training programmes to students in construction technology. A structural testing laboratory was also being planned with the assistance of Department of Civil Engineering.
