Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada is keen on introducing choice-based credit system (CBCS) at all 260 engineering colleges from the next academic year to improve the quality of education, according to JNTU-K Director P. Uday Bhaskar (Academics and Planning).
He was inaugurating ‘Sivani Sparkles’ national level technical symposium at Chilakapalem on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that JNTU-K was giving utmost priority for quality education by revising its curriculum every three years and conducting workshops for faculty development apart from periodical inspection of the infrastructure at colleges.
He said the implementation of CBCS in accordance with UGC guidelines was a boon for students, as it provided a opportunity to students to select subjects of their choice and improve their skills during college days. Prof. Uday Bhaskar felt only hard work and innovative thinking would ensure employability skills for students since 1.5 lakh students were completing engineering course every year. Sivani Group of Colleges Director Duppala Venkata Rao, P. Durga Prasad Raju said the institution was conducting programmes such as ‘Sivani Sparkles’ to identify hidden talent among the students.
