The meeting of Telugu Desam leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan with Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy here on Friday is being seen as a fallout of the cold war between TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and the progeny of late N. T. Rama Rao.

A staunch follower of N. Harikrishna and Junior NTR, Mr. Vamsi, president of the TDP city unit, was engaged in a running feud with Krishna district unit president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, an MLA.

A temporary truce was worked out four months following the intervention of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, but apparently things were simmering internally.

Allegations

There were allegations that Friday's district bandh call was actually given to stall the release of NTR-starrer ‘Dammu' and it was the result of the cold war between actor N. Balakrishna and Junior NTR.

Mr. Vamsi took special care to get it released district-wide. Publicly Vamsi, however, refused to dub the bandh as an action aimed at destabilising the film's release.

The movie was released in nine regular theatres and two INOX theatres with three screens each in Vijayawada. All the shows from 10.30 a.m. on Friday ran as scheduled with the organisers of the all-party bandh and exhibitors arriving at an understanding.

Staunch TDP supporters were unable to digest the meeting of Mr. Vamsi, a one time follower of the slain party leader Paritala Ravi, with Mr. Jagan.

Dharna staged

Followers of Ravi pointed out that Mr. Jagan was once named an accused in the Paritala murder case. They staged a dharna in front of NTR Statue in Patamata on Saturday.

The YSR Congress founder trying to build the party in Krishna district needs the support of influential ‘Kamma' community in this region and wooing Mr. Vamsi into the party fold was an obvious reaction from Mr. Jagan.

With Mr. Vangaveeti Radha joining the party the other influential ‘Kapu' community gets representation to ensure the YSRCP is not filled with leaders from Reddy community.
