UNDP funds for disaster preparedness

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) sanctioned ₹10 lakh to the A.P. State Disaster Management Authority (AP-SDMA) for undertaking disaster preparedness capacity – building programs in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam municipal corporations, according to a press release by SDMA Executive Director K. Siva Sankar Rao.

Awareness programme

He stated that the A.P. State Disaster Management Authority would identify volunteers and give them training in ways to mitigate the impact of disasters.

NGOs and schools would be involved in spreading awareness about disaster preparedness and management.

The awareness programme includes risks of earth-quakes.
