A day after sending a stern message to disgruntled TDP leaders, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reminded them that the 2019 elections was the target to be achieved.

Mr. Naidu, addressing the party leaders via teleconference on Monday, said that more than 26 people cannot be accommodated in the Cabinet. Discontent was natural when posts are few but aspirants are many. But, the party would have to take into account various political equations, social justice, regional balances, caste, experience and age in Cabinet reorganisation.

There were number of candidates, who were eligible to be inducted into the Cabinet, but for limitations and laid down rules not many could be accommodated.

“The leaders should understand these facts. Not securing a post may make one unhappy but overcoming this and moving forward will reveal our wisdom, capability and discipline. If someone puts personal interests are above party interests, it will not be tolerated,” he asserted.

Mr. Naidu said it was painful that a few of them have overstepped their limits by expressing their dissatisfaction publicly. It was not correct to go to the media with their reactions but discuss everything at the party fora. The attitude of a few leaders was not correct and was not in tune with party’s philosophy.

“They have not taken the Cabinet expansion in the right spirit. Their discontent is not appreciated. You can share your issues, opinions and feelings directly with me,” he told the leaders.

TDP leaders have been expressing their discontentment after four YSR Congress MLAs, who had defected to the party in the last few months, were given Cabinet berths in the reshuffle effected on Sunday by Mr. Naidu and sincere party workers were ‘overlooked’ for the ministerial jobs.
