Five-year-old V. Pooja Pallavi, a student of UKG, sustained a fracture after she was allegedly beaten up by her teacher at a private school at Vaddadi under the Butchayyapeta police station limits in the district.

Though the incident took place on Saturday evening, it came to light only on Tuesday after the parents of the girl approached a section of the media.

Pooja’s father, V. Nageswara Rao, alleged that the teacher had beat up his daughter severely on her hand as she failed to do her homework.

Pooja sustained a mild fracture.

Mr. Rao, an auto-rickshaw driver, alleged that some teachers of the school were frequently punishing students for frivolous reasons. He, however, did not lodge any police complaint against the management of the school.
