‘Ugadi Puraskaralu’ recipients felicitated

Recipients of the ‘Ugadi Puraskaralu’, hailing from Chittoor district, were felicitated by the Rajachandra Foundation, at Sri Venkateswara University’s (SVU) Senate Hall, here on Sunday.

Introducing recipients to the audience, SVU Vice-Chancellor W. Rajendra thanked the members of the foundation, for organising the felicitation ceremony at the varsity, particularly after the state bifurcation.

Art’s importance

Academy of Fine Arts Phalguna Kumar spoke about the importance of propagating art and linked its effects to the well being of mind, body and soul. He further called upon the people to encourage arts and culture, so as to preserve it for the coming generations.

SVU Registrar M. Devarajulu, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Honorary Director M. Satyanarayana Raju, Rajachandra Foundation Trustee Durga Prasad and others expressed their views during the event.

Seven feted

Seven members, Medasani Mohan (Vadhanam), R.M. Umamaheshwara Rao (Journalism), N. Bhaktavatsala Reddy (Janapadham), Dr.P. Subramani and T.R. Purushottamayya (Sculpture) and B.V. Padmanabham (Dolu) were felicitated on the occasion.
