The lives of two engineering students with promising career prospects were cut short when the motorbike they were riding rammed an electric pole near Sun City venture in Rajendranagar on Wednesday.

Chaitanya, who was riding the bike, died instantly though he wore a helmet that got shattered into pieces as the bike crashed into the electric pole around 2.30 p.m. His friend Prabhat Pankaj, riding pillion, suffered multiple fractures and died while being shifted to hospital.

“Eyewitnesses said the duo was seen riding at high speed. On reaching Raghuramnagar Apartments, they lost control,” Narsingi Sub-Inspector Venkat Reddy told reporters.
