Two journalists of Zee 24 Gantalu held

Police on Saturday arrested the Input Editor Ravi and stringer Akhtar of Zee 24 Gantalu news channel in connection with a case booked against them for airing a news story highlighting DGP V. Dinesh Reddy’s meeting with a godman Habib Mustafa Idrus Baba.

Hussainialam Inspector G. Ranveer Reddy said cases under Sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class ), 500 and 505 (2) of IPC were registered against the duo .

“As of now, we have arrested only two persons and investigations are on,” Mr. Reddy explained. Another criminal case was also booked against the channel on charges that it morphed the visuals aired with a news report on the meeting.

Meanwhile, a follower of Idrus Baba lodged a complaint with the Nampally police on Saturday evening seeking penal action against the TV channel for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Baba’s supporters. Inspector J. Venkat Reddy said based on the experts’ opinion, further action would be initiated.
