Even as several villages in Julurupadu, Chandrugonda, Palvancha and other parts of the district continue to reel under seasonal ailments, both government and private hospitals have been witnessing a heavy rush of patients for the past couple of days.
Sources said that several villagers are reportedly suffering from fever and water-borne ailments at Kommugudem village in Julurupadu mandal, Tippanapalli in Chandrugonda mandal and several localities in Palvancha town. Two deaths were reported from Palvancha mandal on Tuesday.
Kunja Anitha, 14, an inmate of the Tribal Welfare Ashram High School at Ulvanur in Palvancha mandal, died of suspected dengue at a private hospital in Kothagudem on Tuesday, sources said.
Another patient of Palvancha town, who had fever, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kothagudem on the same day.
However, health officials attributed the death of Anitha to ‘renal failure’.
Meanwhile, several villagers are down with fever at Kommugudem in Julurupadu mandal. Some of them reportedly tested positive for typhoid, sources added.
When contacted, District Medical and Health Officer B. Bhanu Prakash, said a medical team has been offering regular services to patients at Kommugudem.
