Karnataka has rejected a proposal made consistently by Andhra Pradesh for construction of a “parallel” gravity canal in the form of a pipeline to draw its full quota of water from Tungabhadra dam for Anantapur and Kadapa districts as allocated by Krishna Water Tribunal.

The disapproval by the Karnataka government has been conveyed to AP representatives in Tungabhadra Board headed by a Central Water Commission chief engineer.
