: Hundreds of farmers, particularly from upland areas of West Godavari district, led by Denduluru MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar and Eluru MLA Badeti Bujji, accorded a ceremonial reception to Godavari water from Pattiseema on Thursday at Janampeta in Pedavegi mandal. A festive mood prevailed with both the MLAs taking a holy dip in river waters. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabhakar said Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy had gone to town in the district saying that Godavari water would never reach Krishna delta, but with water is flowing through the Polavaram Right Main Canal today, the latter had been proven wrong.

On the other hand, Mr. Jagan criticised the State government over payment of compensation to villagers losing their lands on account of the Jalleru reservoir.

He extensively toured the villages facing submergence, including Jeelugumilli, Tatiramannagudem, Jillellagudem, Lankalapalli, and Bottappagudem.

The State government should pay compensation to villagers on a par with Pattiseema evacuees, he demanded.
