March 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Tirumala:

Donations received by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams’ Nitya Annadanam Trust has crossed Rs.100 crore mark during the current fiscal.

With two days left for the completion of the financial year (2015-16) the donations crossed the mark and this is the highest ever contribution received so far by the trust in a single year. The previous best was Rs.85 crore during the year 2014-15.

Over one lakh devotees are being fed free-of-cost under the novel scheme which has a corpus fund of over Rs.670 crore. The feeding activity, which was confined only to Tirumala, has been extended to Tirupati during last couple of years.

The TTD derives an interest of Rs.55 crore on the corpus, but the annual expenditure of the trust is put at around Rs.75 crore. An additional Rs.200 crore will make the trust self-reliant at least for the time being.

HCL donates Rs. 1 crore

He handed over the cheque to TTD’s Executive officer Sambasiva rao at Ranganayakula mandapam inside the temple during the break darshan.
