The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was informed on Wednesday that the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams owned 4,657 acres within Andhra Pradesh and 163 acres outside the State, including 8.10 acres in Nepal. The market value of the landed properties was about Rs. 9,800 crore.
Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao, who shared this information in reply to a question by YSRC MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy said 163 acres of TTD land was alienated in favour of Mahila University at Tirupati but the university had more or less compensated by giving to TTD 150 acres near Perur tank.
Mr. Reddy asked the government what steps it took not to hurt the sentiments of pilgrims who donated the lands. He accused the government of giving red carpet welcome and break for pilgrim queue to enable VIP darshan for people like Anil Ambani. Former Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said the TTD had properties worth about Rs. 50,000 crore and not Rs. 9,800 crore as claimed by the Minister.
Shortage of beds at KGHHealth Minister Kamineni Srinivas deplored the conditions in King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam and said the patients even shared beds due to shortage. There was a shortage of nurses also. He denied any proposal to upgrade the hospital into a super speciality institution.
Agriculture Minister P. Pulla Rao said 3.56 lakh quintals of seed of various crops were distributed to 7.60 lakh farmers with a subsidy of Rs. 48 crore so far this kharif. He was replying to questions by YSR Congress MLAs on subsidy seed and fertilizers.
