YSR Congress Party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy on Wednesday alleged digging for treasure in the ‘potu’ (kitchen) at the TTD-run Venkateswara temple in Tirumala.

At a press conference here, Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy said some of the jewels were taken abroad and being auctioned in Switzerland. He demanded that Central agencies probe the issue.

He would resign his Rajya Sabha membership in the 13th hour, if the Telangana police and the CBI did not find TTD ornaments after raids on the residences of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Hyderabad and Amaravati in 12 hours.

Coming down on the ‘Dharma Porata Deeksha’ organised by the TDP here on Tuesday, the MP accused the government of plying 2,000 buses for the protest of the Chief Minister here and in Tirupati and said the Chandrababu Naidu government was misusing public money for its publicity.

If voted to power, the YSRCP would take action as per law, he said.

To prove that the corruption charges against him were not true, IT Minister Lokesh should ask the Chief Minister to order a probe by the CBI if he was confident about his honesty, Mr. Reddy demanded. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy did it during his tenure, but Mr. Naidu lacked the conviction, Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy said.
