The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has felicitated the police personnel involved in tracing the child, Chenna Kesava, who was stolen at Tirumala hills, after a fortnight-long rigorous search operation.

The son of Venkateswarlu and Nagaratnamma, a couple from Anantapur district, who is only a few months old, was abducted at Tirumala by unidentified persons in the guise of pilgrims. The same was captured on the CCTV and the image of the kidnappers was shared with other States. The child was traced and reunited with his parents on Saturday.

Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, speaking to the media on Sunday, attributed the successful operation to the ability of the police department to zero in on the accused based on the CCTV images and the cooperation extended by Joint Executive Officer K.S. Sreenivasa Raju. “At present there are 174 cameras inside the temple and in the four Mada streets. These will be replaced with the latest version cameras,” he said. He later presented the Lord's Prasadam to Rayalaseema IG Sridhar Rao, Dy. SP (Tirumala) Muniramaiah, inspectors Venkata Ravi and Rama Krishna, vigilance guard officer Ravindra Reddy and SI Timmaiah for the accomplishment.

The police officials met the TTD top brass and thanked the latter for the support in the operation. “Apart from the wide publicity in media and social media, the pamphlets and posters printed in thousands in different languages by the TTD in its in-house press helped us a lot,” they said.
