The devotional books published by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will soon find place in the library of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
The decision emerged when the Legislative Assembly Committee on Libraries, headed by S. Jagadeeswara Reddy, closeted with TTD officials to review the functioning of various libraries here on Thursday.
Free ‘Sapthagiri’ copies to MLAs
The TTD has also agreed to send a free copy of its monthly magazine ‘Sapthagiri’ to all the legislators in the State, so as to enable them to know the various schemes run by the Devasthanams and the periodical developments at the hill shrine.
Speaking to the media later, Mr. Reddy said the panel had asked the TTD to publish small booklets packed with moral values to be distributed to schoolchildren. “The TTD has got two books -- ‘Dharma Pravesika’ and ‘Dharma Parichayam’ -- published and has distributed them up to students of ninth class. The exams were taken by 80,000 students last year, for which we appreciate the TTD,” Mr. Reddy said.
The panel asked the TTD to open spiritual libraries in all districts of the State, akin to the one established in Guntur.
