TS PSUs suffer aggregate loss of Rs. 351.62 crore

The aggregate loss of 11 working, public sector undertakings of Telangana was Rs. 351.62 crore, according to the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

In its report on the PSUs for 2014-15, the CAG said out of the 66 undertakings falling under the audit purview, 11 working PSUs pertain exclusively to the State. Of the rest, 33 PSUs are under demerger (post bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh) and 22 are non-working and yet to be bifurcated.

As per the latest finalised accounts, one of the 11 PSUs declared a dividend of Rs. 129.99 crore. The aggregate loss of the 33 PSUs under demerger was Rs. 444.12 crore and four PSUs declared a dividend of Rs. 16.19 crore. According to the report tabled in the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday, during 2014-15, out of the six working PSUs of Telangana that finalised accounts, the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) earned a profit of Rs. 491.90 crore and three undertakings incurred a loss of Rs. 1.35 crore. During 2014-15, the total outgo from Telangana’s Budget was Rs. 4,264.48 crore for the working PSUs and Rs. 7,117.64 crore for PSUs under demerger.

In its compliance audit observations, the CAG report said that SCCL without conducting the economic viability of 20 MW captive power plant incurred an expenditure of Rs. 4.35 crore on consultants’ fees and other civil works.
