TRS wooing independents

May 14, 2014 11:38 pm | Updated 11:38 pm IST - KARIMNAGAR:

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which had won 24 municipal divisions in the elections against the total of 50 municipal divisions and short of two councillors to occupy the post of Mayor, is luring the independents into the party.

On Wednesday, the TRS had lured the independent municipal corporators Penta Satyanarayana and Mohd Majid Hussain into the party and shifted them to the “camp” under the leadership of Karimnagar legislator Gangula Kamalakar. Now, the TRS had secured absolute majority to occupy the Mayor post.

With Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar stating that they would snatch the coveted Mayor post of Karimngar municipal corporation with the support of Independents and others, TRS legislator Gangula Kamalakar had taken up the election of mayoral post as a prestigious one and leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the TRS occupy the post.
