TRS today threatened to stall Lok Sabha proceedings tomorrow if its adjournment motion to discuss the Telangana issue was not accepted by the Speaker.
TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao’s son K T Rama Rao said here that the party would press for a discussion on the issue in Lok Sabha tomorrow with the help of NDA and CPI members.
“Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow as well, we will move an adjournment motion for discussion on Telangana issue and the promise that was made by the Union Government on December 9, 2009. If the Speaker does not allow discussion, we will surely protest, we will surely stall the House,” he told reporters after the party’s state executive meeting.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao and the other TRS MP Vijayashanthi left for Delhi today to attend Parliament session.
Supported by the BJP, the TRS members have disrupted Lok Sabha proceedings over the Telangana issue ahead of the presentation of Railway Budget and General Budget.
With TRS members raising the Telangana demand, the ruling Congress MPs from Telangana region and TDP too have raised the pitch on the contentious issue.
The Congress MPs had, in fact, threatened to “commit suicide” if their demand for separate state is not met.
Mr. Rama Rao urged Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to reconsider his decision to convene a meeting of parties from Andhra Pradesh on the Telangana issue only when all of them are ready to give their views.
TRS MLAs have, meanwhile, decided to boycott the ongoing budget session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly as it did not adopt a resolution supporting formation of separate Telangana, TRS leader in the House E Rajender said.
“In an unusual move, ruling Congress MLAs have also decided to boycott the House. With today’s decision of TRS to boycott, there will be no member from Telangana sitting in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.
“Now, it is imperative for the Union Government to understand that in today’s circumstances, there is no such thing called Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly anymore,” Mr. Rama Rao claimed.
He also claimed that the ‘Chalo Hyderabad - million march to Hyderabad’ protest on March 10 would be a big success.
