Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday lashed out at the Telugu Desam–BJP alliance saying it was aimed at preventing a homegrown party like TRS from coming to power.

Addressing a meeting at the party office on the occasion of some leaders joining the TRS, Mr. Rao said the alliance was a private understanding between Chandrababu Naidu and Venkaiah Naidu, both of whom are ranged against Telangana.

Emphasising that the TRS would perform miracles in governance if elected to power, Mr. Rao said the people would be left wondering that a political party can do good things. The TRS would fulfil its obligations cent per cent, he said and added it was left to the people if they did not want such a party.

Harish Rao terms it ‘unethical’

At a press conference earlier, TRS MLA T. Harish Rao said the TDP–BJP alliance was unethical because the TDP had threatened to withdraw support to BJP-led NDA if Narendra Modi was not removed as Chief Minister of Gujarat in the aftermath of Godhra violence.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had refused permission to Mr. Modi to participate in Ganesh immersion procession here in 2003. On its part, the BJP set aside its resolution at Kakinada supporting separate Telangana solely because of the alliance with TDP.
