Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said formation of Telangana State was certain in spite of what had happened in the State Legislature on Thursday.
“Now that the episode over A.P. Reorganisation Bill 2013 is complete in the State, all developments related to formation of Telangana will take place at New Delhi itself,” Mr. Rao said here.
Faulting the Seemandhra leaders’ action of mischievous adoption of resolution against the Bill in the Legislature he said it would not be binding on the Centre/Parliament.
He recalled that the UP Assembly had adopted a resolution for the formation of Uttarakhand State only with hilly areas of UP but Parliament had carved out the new State including Haridwar so that the new entity could have some plain areas.
The UP Assembly had opposed inclusion of Haridwar in Uttarakhand but it was overlooked by Parliament.
He held that most of the new States would not have been carved out had they needed majority opinion in the united entities. He wondered how Seemandhra leaders were talking about unanimity on bifurcation, ignoring the fact that unanimity was also needed for staying united. “In fact, it is the other way round. Unanimity is required for living together and not for separation,” Mr. Rao noted.
To leave for New Delhi
Mr. Rao said he would leave for New Delhi along with some party leaders on Friday to meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and BJP president Rajnath Singh besides other leaders.
He exuded confidence that Telangana State would be formed very soon and the next elections would be held in the new State only. Delimitation of constituencies could be taken up only before the 2019 elections, he said.
